Profdoc has taken the healthcare connectivity challenge by
launching the Profdoc Medical Interchange (PMI) service.
Unlike many point-to-point EDI connections, PMI allows
providers to perform numerous, disparate transactions with
trading partners integrated with their front-end applications.
Information may be communicated in a variety of formats such
as EDIFACT, XML, HL7 and binary data (e.g. images). Profdoc
is active in the CEN Electronic Health Record Interoperability
forum, and all PMI subscribers can use the structure as defined
by the ENV 13606 architecture implemented in XML for transfer
of healthcare information.
PMI is secure from eavesdropping, provides full traceability
and maximum reliability. Tried and tested technology together
with the latest processes for safeguarding transfers means
that PMI offers the security required for the exchange of
sensitive information using PKI. The PMI service is offered
both over the Internet and to institutions connected to closed
healthcare networks.
With PMI, lab data, X-ray pictures and medical journals etc. can
be sent straight into the Profdoc medical journal systems of the
connected hospitals, pharmacies and GPs. For example,
a referral
can be sent straight into the journal system of a surgeon, together
with the patient's medical records. This way an efficient and
flawless working procedure can be achieved, helping providers
better schedule and synchronize the delivery of care.
